Online CNA Programs
With the growing decline of healthcare workers and the
increased demand, drastic actions are being taken to ensure that enough training programs are available to
those who are interested in working in the healthcare profession. Online CNA programs are
being offered for health related education, and these programs are becoming more popular since it is a great
way to obtain the proper training needed in order to pursue a new career without having to leave your current
job.
Online CNA programs offer
many benefits, if you are interested pursuing a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, you must keep a few
things in mind while trying to decide which School would best suite your needs and what you are trying to
accomplish.
Flexibility - some online courses offer the type of
study that allows you to work at your own pace, on your own time. Depending on how busy you are you may need
to have this type of flexibility, especially if you are employed full-time or have a busy family life. Other
campuses offering online CNA programs may have more of a structured schedule which could
require online class or webinar attendance at specific times of the day. This type of online program would
not allow you to have the flexibility that you may be looking for.
One very important thing you will need make sure of, is
that the campus offering the course is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accredited Commission (NLNAC). This organization provides specialized accreditation
for all types of nursing education programs. If the course is not accredited, it is likely it will not be
recognized by any other schools if you decide to upgrade your skills in the future.
Check with your State for requirements of CNA certification, some States have different rules on the
requirements in regards to training time, testing and your desired working environment when you complete your
course. Contact your State Nurse Aide Registry or State Licensing Board to obtain information about your
States requirements.
Depending on your geographical location, some campuses
may have medical partnerships; this means that they partner with medical facilities in order to place their
students on internships for the hands on learning aspect of the course. Be sure to contact the campus
directly and ask before you enroll, if not you may be left without any practical hands on training. 16-20
hours is usually requirement by the State in order to gain enough experience for employment as a Certified
Nursing Assistant.
The cost of Certified Nursing Assistant online courses
is between $200-$375 on average. The training time to complete the course is between 75-100 hours, plus
additional time for the internship.
If you are interested in an online CNA
program, the best thing to do is shop around for the best program to suite your needs. You should
gather as much information as you can, and call or drop into campuses offering the online CNA programs and
ask questions about the program they are offering. In the end it will help you with your quest to be
